 Having
been a teacher for over twenty years, I was acutely aware
of how many in-service training courses failed to
meet
the expectations of teachers.
Typically,
there would be too many delegates, too much waffle and a nice
lunch.
A week later and I would be thinking...
"What was all that about? How has it helped me?"
We decided to provide better training courses that gave teachers
knowledge and tools along with the
confidence to use them in the classroom.
We
provide subject specific courses to enhance teaching and learning
through the use of ICT.
Although
Design Technology is our main focus, we also provide training
for PE and Drama.
Unlike
many training providers, we have our own fully equipped training
centre in Billericay, Essex, thus
ensuring
a day free from distraction. The centre has a suite of high
spec multimedia computers with broadband
connection,
an interactive whiteboard and video equipment.
We
have a strict limit of five delegates on any course, thus
ensuring adequate personal attention.
Indeed, on some courses, such as CADCAM projects or Digital
Video, it is typically three or four.
Our
courses are creative and fun, with the emphasis on visual
and kinaesthetic learning.
Our
courses include Prodesktop 8.0 Accredited Teacher, Prodesktop
8.0 Advanced, CADCAM Projects,
Digital
video for Design Technology, Digital video for PE and Digital
video for Drama.
Software
used includes Prodesktop, Techsoft 2D Design Tools, Boxford
Geocam, Pinnacle Studio, CAM Studio
and
Pro/WIZ.
We
also provide consultancy for Design Technology departments,
with particular emphasis on CADCAM and
workshop layout.
